My name is Chaz King. I was born right here in Louisiana and have lived here my whole life. A majority of this life was spent growing up in Central, where I attended Central High School and worked at Journey Church. My mom was a photographer and designer for Journey so I decided to learn the other side which was video and production. I was at Journey for 10 years until I felt the call to move to Bethany Church where I would meet my now wife, Kamber. Kamber and I work together at Bethany to create intentional experiences on Sunday Mornings to make church a place where people can encounter God as well as making it inviting to guests.

In my “free time”, I attend almost all of LSU’s home sporting events. Alongside working in production at Bethany you can also find me either running a camera or working replay for LSU’s Videoboard Crew or sometimes even ESPN or SECN. I have been able to do this for about 7/8 years and obviously 2019 was by and far the best season to work.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My family started in November 2021 and right now consists of me, my wife Kamber, and our little dog Woody. You can normally find us at a favorite restaurant or at home trying a new recipe and watching Masterchef, Impractical Jokers, or The Office.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
My career for the majority of my life has been in production. I mostly love that I get to help create environments for God to move and people to experience him.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Elsie’s Plate & Pie for Cajun, Pimanyoli’s for BBQ, Curbside for a Burger, Jabby’s for Pizza, Superior Grill for Mexican, and Little Village for the Bread.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived and worked in Baton Rouge my whole life up to now.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
This is a tough one. As someone who has barely traveled the US except for the Southeast Region, there’s a lot that I haven’t seen. But I would like to some of the different places in Europe and see what that’s all about.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Normally in our house, The Office is playing on a TV somewhere but we are also big fans of Parks and Rec, Ted Lasso, and Masterchef. Another really good TV show on AppleTV is Severance.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Take life one step at a time. You will get where you are going when you need to be there. Don’t try to rush it but don’t stand around waiting for something.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I’d like to go skydiving, and also eventually see all of the Wonders of the World. My work bucket list item would be to create visual graphics for a band/conference.

Q: What is your go-to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Right now it is probably either Half•Alive or Glass Animals. They have similar but slightly different feels but I don’t know if there is a skippable song to either of them.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Nine Dragons in Central. When in high school playing football on Thursday Night’s the day before a game the team would all go there and eat until it burned down I believe.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Nate Bargatze. He’s a comedian out of Tennessee and has a few specials and a podcast but seems like a great, down-to-earth guy who is really fun. I feel like Elsie’s would be a good place to eat for that.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Favorite thing about our community is the friendliness and hospitality of the people of Baton Rouge. Especially in the fall during football season when the LSU grounds are scattered with tailgates and all are welcoming to all.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I’m not too much of a future thinker but definitely could see us with maybe a couple of kids and in a new house. But we could also be anywhere, just waiting and seeing what the call for us is.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
The most shocking to people is that I don’t like chocolate. that’s one that normally has people in disbelief. And no, I’m not allergic, just don’t like it!

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been? Why did it make such an impression on you?
Cuba. I went a few years back for a missions trip and it’s unreal. It has this old-time look and vintage cars everywhere.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and the best single day on the calendar?
I like March, it’s packed with most family birthdays and cool weather. The favorite Holiday is the 4th of July or Christmas, and the best single day on the calendar is November 19th.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
LSU home games when playing an SEC team or better yet a rival. The place is packed and an unreal experience.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My wife, my parents, and myself.

Q: If you stop at the corner gas station, what is the one food item that is begging you to purchase?
Nerds Clusters. If not that then Gummy Worms.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Unity, Joy, Rest
