My name is Chris, and I’m a laid back programmer with a degree from LSU, a passion for programming and video games, and I’ve lived in Baton Rouge my whole life. I’ve been married since August of 2018, and since then I’ve bought a house and two big dogs.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife, Ashlea, and I live in Central with our two dogs: Juno and Shep. Juno is an Australian shepherd, and shep is a German shepherd.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I work for Eagle Federal Credit Union as a programmer/core system specialist. We’re a small credit union with an IT team of 2, so I’m a very self-reliant developer who doesn’t back down from a challenge. I really love making websites and writing reports that make everyone’s job easier, and automating processes to keep the workload down.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I’ve always loved Roux 61 on Bluebonnet. It’s where I first fell in love with jacked up oysters, and no one else’s are quite as good. The rest of their food is also great, so I’m never disappointed.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I’ve lived in Baton Rouge for 24 years. I’ve lived mostly in Central, but I did live on LSU campus for a year.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
When it comes to interesting, I don’t think anyone could compete with Patrick Bordelon. He’s a band teacher at Central High, and undoubtedly the coolest man ever. But if you ever get the chance to meet him, he’ll make you feel like the biggest celebrity in the world.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I’ve always wanted to visit the Himalayas, so Nepal has been on my bucket list for awhile.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I like the movie Skyfall a lot. It was one of the last movies that my whole family went and saw together.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Tomorrow is too late to say what could be said today.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I want to create something that people really resonate with. Whether a video game, a story, or a song, I’d like to write something that is someone’s favorite thing.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I fell in love with country and bluegrass music a few years ago, so whenever I need to listen to something I always go back to Billy Strings, who was my first introduction into modern bluegrass.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
I worked at Clegg’s Nursery for over 2 years, and I have a lot of great memories there. I pass it every day on my way to work, and it reminds me how far I’ve come.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I’d love to meet
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I think that no matter where I go in the whole world, I’ll always miss the food back home. Nothing else stacks up to some home cooked Cajun food with family and friends.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Writing code, living with my wife in dogs, and learning more and more every day.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I sing a lot, but mostly just for myself. My own mom didn’t know I could sing until this year.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been? Why did it make such an impression on you?
I was at Glacier National Park in Montana recently, and it was some of the most beautiful mountains I’ve ever seen. But it was my family who was with me, and my family who couldn’t be, that really made the impression.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
I really like January, because it’s usually the coldest. I like Halloween, because it’s also my birthday, and I like the winter solstice because I’m a night owl, so I like the longer nights.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A one on one dinner with a long time friend over some great food.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My mom has always been a beacon of encouragement in my life, and when I think of all the things I’ve overcome with her in my corner, I feel like I can keep going no matter what.
Q: If you stop at the corner gas station, what is the one food item that is begging you to purchase?
I always grab a coke and a chocolate bar every time I’m at a register. The chocolate bar varies, but the coke never does.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Friends, Family, and Fun.
